Activities
This section holds an extensive amount of information about the Student Union's activities.
According to the Universities Act, the purpose of the student union is to act as a link between its members and to promote their societal, social and intellectual aspirations. In practice this means that Tamy has three roles: a supervisor of interests, a service provider and a civic organization.
As a supervisor of interests, Tamy supervises the interests of its members not only at the University of Tampere but in the Tampere region in whole. The Student Union nominates student representatives to the administrative bodies of the University and its schools, acts as an expert, makes statements and gives comments on matters relating to students, and represents students at various draft working groups. Tamy supervises interests in e.g. academic affairs, social welfare affairs and international affairs.
The services the Student Union provides for its members include not only the student card, a rental van, the student newspaper Aviisi, legal counselling etc., but also various events and activities! The most active event organizers are Tamy's committees which operate under Tamy's sectors.
In addition, Tamy offers its members a variety of possibilities to participate in societal conversation, engage in international activities and take the floor for development cooperation, equality and environment, to name but a few. See what the committees do and join us!
