Benefits and discounts
Basic degree students
The basic degree student's blue student card entitles you to various great discounts nationwide:
- Opiskelijan Tampere acquires student discounts to all university students in the Tampere region. Their website has hundreds of benefits and discounts listed both in alphabetical order and arranged in categories. Take a look!
- Your student card also entitles you to student health care at the Finnish Student Health Service (FSHS). FSHS offers healt h care and medical treatment, mental health services and dental care for a very low price. Completely free of charge are consultations with nurses and general practitioners, laboratory services, and physical and dental examinations for freshmen.
- The Finnish Railways (VR) offers a 50 % discount for students with a valid student card. In addition, the long distance bus company Matkahuolto offers a 50 % discount for trips longer than 80 km. Tampere City Transport offers a student discount both for single tickets and for monthly passes.
- Your student card also entitles you to student-priced meals at the University restaurants. If you want even cheaper meals, you can charge Juvenes lunches on your student card!
Postgraduate students
The postgraduate student's green student card does not entitle you to discounts on public transport or to student-priced meals. Postgraduate students are also excluded from the FSHS service. For this reason, the annual membership fee is lower for postgraduate students. Moreover, the green postgraduate student card does not work as a key card.
