Subscribing to and unsubscribing from an open email list

Closed email lists

Information about Tamy's sector activities, related national and local news, committee meetings and other events is passed on through Tamy's email lists. Occasionally other related matters are also discussed. Almost all lists are open to everyone. If you have problems with subscribing or unsubscrbing, contact the list's administrator. Take a moment to browse the lists and join the ones that interest you – it's the best way to keep up with what's happening!

Please note that most of the lists operate mainly in Finnish. If the list operates mainly in English, it is mentioned in the list description. See also Tamy's international email lists for lists in English. Tip: If you are an exchange student or an international students, join at least the IS list!

Subscribing to and unsubscribing from an open email list

Subscribe

All email lists hosted by Tamy are so called listserv lists. To subscribe, simply send an email to listserv@uta.fi with one line of text in the body of the note as follows:

SUBSCRIBE [list name] [First name] [Last name]

For example, to subscribe to the IS-list, a person called Ida International would email a note to listserv@uta.fi with one line in the body of the note saying: SUBSCRIBE is-list Ida International. Please leave the subject line of your email empty and delete any signatures you may have.

Once you have subscribed to the list, you can send email to the list in question. The list address is the same as the list name.

Unsubscribe

On the listserv lists, users can unsubscribe from a list themselves. To unsubscribe, simply send an email to listserv@uta.fi saying:

SIGNOFF [list name]

For example, to unsubscribe from the IS-list, your note would say: SIGNOFF is-list.

When subscribing to or unsubscribing from a list, the list's name is written without the @uta.fi ending. Again, you can leave the subject line of your message empty.

You can subscribe to (and unsubscribe from) an open list yourself by following the instructions above.
