Getting your Student Card PDF Print E-mail

The student card is the key for Tamy members to a wide range of student discounts and services. By showing the student card you are entitled to student health care services, student prized meals at student cafeterias, 50% discount in long-distance buses and trains, and various discounts in cultural venues and business establishments.

How to apply? You can apply for a student card after having paid the Tamy membership fee and registered at the university. Student card aplication forms are available in the Registrar's office (Aktuaarin kanslia) in the university main building. Please, do not send student card application if you will not start your studies in the autumn or if you already have a student card issued by the Student Union of the University of Tampere.

Instructions Fill in the application form using a ballpoint pen, do not use apencil. Use clear block letters and numbers! Write your signature in the designated box. Write your name and student number (if known) on the back of your passport photo. Glue your passport photo on to the designated spot on the application form. Do not attach the photo with tape or staples! Cut along the line.

When collecting your student card: The card can be picked up from Tamy General Office (Kauppakatu 10, 2nd floor) about three weeks after you have paid the Student Union membership fee, registered at the university and filled the student card aplication form.

Check out if your student card is ready: If your student number is on the list it means your card is ready to be collected from Tamy's General Office. Please note, that green cards (for postgraduate students) are not listed on this list.

The card costs 5 euros and it has to be paid in cash. You need to have an identification card (with your photo on it) or a passport with you. The card can be activated to function as a key card to computer rooms at the University. The cards for postgraduate students do not have this function.
