Housing
In the autumn there are a lot of new students searching for apartments and it is more difficult than usually to find an apartment. Remember to start looking for an apartment as soon as you receive the information on your study place.
The Tampere Student Housing Foundation TOAS
Most of the international students in Tampere live in the apartments of TOAS. TOAS offers furnished apartments with fixed-term leasing contracts. The number of furnished apatrments is limited and it is important to apply for an apartment as soon as possible. You can fill in the on-line application in the TOAS website.
It is also possible to apply for any other TOAS apartment outside the limited number of furnished apartments.
Rental apartments on the open market
Rental apartments on the open market are usually more expensive than the apartments of TOAS. Whe you rent an apartment, remember to go through the rental agreement carefully to make sure that you know what you're agreeing to.
Opiskelijan Tampere offers a housing page, where you can search for rental apartments and roommates or offer your own apartment for rent. The service is free for the lessor and the applicant both. In the summer and early autumn, students are assisted in apartment search by a housing secretary. You can contact the housing secretary at asunnot@opiskelijantampere.fi or call +358 50 374 8191 (between 9 am–13 pm).
In addition to housing services, Opiskelijan Tampere ry and Dream Hostel arrange temporary accommodation for students in need of short-term accommodation in autumn. Related information is updated on the Opiskelijan Tampere website.
